30 before 30

Being what would have been my brother’s 30th birthday month, I was inspired to finally come up with my 30 before 30 list. I have just over 2 years to complete this list— wish me luck!

Here it goes in no particular order…

  1. Volunteer to serve a Holiday dinner at a homeless shelter
  2. Hike the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal
  3. Intern with the Environmental Defense Center in Santa Barbara
  4. Downsize my closet to a 1/3 of its current size and donate the rest!
  5. Master the handstand in yoga
  6. Write letters to those I love telling them why I love them so
  7. Stay at a Ashram
  8. Participate in WWOOF– Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms
  9. Go to Lotusland  in S.B.
  10. Hike Machu Picchu in Peru
  11. Attend a City Council Meeting
  12. Graduate with my MA in Public Policy
  13. Visit the Grand Canyon
  14. Go to a reading by Mary Oliver
  15. Reach 500 followers on my blog
  16. Write a letter to myself to seal and open in 10 years
  17. Pack sack lunches and give to the first 10 homeless people I see
  18. Go to the “secret” hippie full moon naked dance party in S.B.
  19. Write my will
  20. Leave a tip for double the amount of the bill
  21. Write a published piece for the Independent
  22. Couch surf
  23. Read all ’10 books every woman should read’
  24. Hike the 18 mile ‘Ultimate Hike’ in S.B.
  25. Buy a tandem bike
  26. Run a ½ marathon
  27. Dedicate a day to trail maintenance with the Sierra Club
  28. Learn all the names and trailhead locations of S.B. front country hikes
  29. Create a long range plan for my life
  30. Leave open for life’s infinite possibilities- remain curious, resilient, trusting, loving, and forgiving of the journey
